Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, also known as Sheikh Zayed of Egypt, was a prominent leader in the Middle East in the late 20th century. He is best known for his efforts to unite the Arab world and promote economic and social development in the region.

Sheikh Zayed was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1932. He was the eldest son of Sultan bin Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the ruler of Abu Dhabi at the time. Sheikh Zayed was educated at the Royal Military Academy in Cairo and later served in the Egyptian Armed Forces.

In 1971, Sheikh Zayed was appointed as the ruler of Abu Dhabi. During his time as ruler, he worked to develop the economy of Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He was instrumental in the formation of the UAE in 1971, with the signing of the Constitution of the United Arab Emirates.

Sheikh Zayed was a strong advocate for economic development in the Middle East and worked to create a unified economic and social system in the region. He established the Zayed 2000 Program in 1993, which aimed to improve the quality of life for all citizens of the UAE. The program included initiatives such as providing free education, healthcare, housing, and employment opportunities.

Sheikh Zayed also worked to promote peace and understanding between the Arab nations. He was key in establishing diplomatic relations between the UAE and other Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt.

Sheikh Zayed passed away in 2004. He was posthumously awarded the Order of the Nile, the highest honor in Egypt, for his contributions to the country. He is remembered for his dedication to peace and development in the Middle East.
